Enyimba international FC of Aba wins the Nigerian Premier League for the seventh time after they secured the needed point in their 0-0 draw against fellow title contender Warri Wolves.
The Elephants only needed a point going into the game at home against Wolves and that seemed to be hard after Enyimba were reduced to ten-man following the red card of Etor Daniel in the 52nd minute but they (Enyimba) held on till 90 minutes to emerge the champions.
Enyimba last won the League title in 2010, having previously won it in 2001, 2002, 2003, 2005 and 2007, with the last round of games to be played next weekend the team from Aba, Abia state’s 69 points from 37 games is enough to secure the title.
Reacting to the win the manager Kadiri Ikhana said, “We’re happy that we have won the league again. As a coach I’m happy and I commend the players for their commitment.”
