Leicester City down Porto in Champions League clash

English Premier League champions Leicester City continued their impressive Champions League campaign on Tuesday night with a 1 – 0 victory over Porto.

New signing, Islam Slimani headed in from a cross whirled in by Riyahd Mahrez in the first half.

“We played with our spirit tonight. The last pass wasn’t always there, but Riyad made one fantastic pass for Slimani,” said manager Claudio Ranieri, following the match.

Ranieri’s side are yet to concede a goal in the course of their two wins. After that 4-1 defeat at Old Trafford on Saturday this was an impressive response – the kind that Ranieri said he had called on his players to deliver.

“I spoke a lot with the players to maintain a clean sheet and my players concentrated very hard,” he said. “They were very strong and attentive in every situation. It was good for everybody after the bad defeat in Manchester.”
