Manchester United release injured Ibrahimovic

Manchester United have released Zlatan Ibrahimovic after announcing their retained list and the Swedish striker’s name was conspicuously missing.

Ibrahimovic suffered a cruciate ligament injury in the Europa League semi-final against Celta Vigo and is expected to be out of action until the start of 2018. Although, he will be allowed to train with the club as he recovers from the injury, United did not hand the striker an extension to his Old Trafford career, given he will be absent for most of next season.

The former PSG man was United’s highest goal scorer last season, scoring 28 times in all competition.
