Sam Allardyce takes his side into Sunday’s match with the result that will make his side safe in the Premier League clear to all involved as they come against Hull City in the midday kick-off.
Some fans will be wondering whether he takes his side into the final home match of the season with a plan to play for a draw but having a target of settling for a point from a game is nothing new for the Palace boss.
“When I came into the building in December the players were told its about not losing, its about stopping defeats and making sure if we don’t win then don’t lose. That was difficult up until recent months and has been extremely difficult in the last three games so my message would be ‘Hold Your Nerve’ and make sure you produce your best performance with an understanding of how we need to play against Hull City to try and win the game.
“It is Hull City we have to compete against and then there is the size of the game and it is similar for them so it is who deals with the pressure better will be a big factor.”
With the stakes so high there will sure to be nerves as the clock ticks by during the game but the manager hopes that the tension in the stands doesn’t spill over to have a chance of affecting the players.
“Our crowd will be a big help as long as they don’t get nervous. If they do they will pass that over and that could make us that little bit more nervous than we want to be. We all have to try and deal with the emotion of the game and we have to try and come out on top.”
