To Wenger, future of clubs can be determined Mathematically

Arsène Wenger has said Arsenal can qualify from the group stage despite losing their opening encounter of the Champions League 2-1 away at Dinamo Zagreb

Arsenal went down 2-0 from a first half own goal by Oxlade Chamberlin in the 24th minute and Fernandes goal in the 58th minute before substitute Theo Walcott pulled one back in the 79th minute

Arsenal were reduced to 10-men after 40 minutes when Olivier Giroud was sent off after receiving a second yellow card for fouling Pinto

Speaking at the post match conference, Wenger said the first yellow card was Giroud’s fault but he criticized the referee for sending him off

The manager admitted that the Gunners have been suffering in all competitions this season but they can qualify without any problem if they can produce performances they want at home.

However, Wenger was full of praises for David Ospina

‘He is a very, very good goalkeeper and he has shown that again tonight. Cech has not played a full season so I am trying to give him some rest mentally because for goalkeepers it’s the same as outfield players’.

Arsenal’s next Champions League game is home against Olympiacos on Tuesday 29th of September at the Emirates Stadium.
