Atletico Madrid striker Fernando Torres suffered a horrific head injury on Thursday night as the Los Rojiblancos played Deportivo La Coruna.
Torres suffered a traumatic head injury and has been transferred to the Model Hospital of La Coruña, where he will undergo different tests.
The former Liverpool and Chelsea striker suffered a heavy blow to the head in the final stretch of the match and had to be stretchered off in an ambulance after being stabilized according to the usual protocol.
Torres will spend the night under observation.
Meanwhile, Spanish football breathed a sigh of relief after a CT scan revealed the Atletico Madrid striker suffered no traumatic brain injuries.
“A cranial and cervical CT scan carried out on Fernando Torres has ruled out that the Rojiblanco striker has suffered any alterations or traumatic injuries,” Atletico said in a statement.
