United youngster Fletcher joins West Ham

Ashley Fletcher has signed for West Ham United on a four-year contract, after his deal with Manchester United expired this summer.

The Hammers have confirmed the 20-year-old striker has opted to join Slaven Bilic’s side despite interest from a number of clubs.

A successful loan spell at Barnsley last season showcased the Academy product’s ability, as he scored in two separate games at Wembley for the Yorkshire club – the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy final and League One Play-Off final.

Fletcher’s move to West Ham was the third Reds departure confirmed on Tuesday after Tyler Reid joined Swansea City and Joe Rothwell signed for Oxford United.
